CASE STUDY

Tripadvisor OTA Activity

Increasing Guest Reviews Through OTA Strategy, Guest Engagement, and Repeatable Reputation Systems

This case study covers the guest review initiative I built to increase Tripadvisor activity and visibility. I connected QR collateral, staff participation, clear targets, and seasonal guest activities into a review process that was easy to understand and repeat.

Challenge

The property needed to increase recent Tripadvisor reviews, improve guest participation, and strengthen OTA visibility. The campaign connected marketing materials, guest-facing touchpoints, and operations team participation into one simple review-generation system.

Objectives

• Improve overall guest service satisfaction visibility

• Increase Tripadvisor / OTA reviews

• Optimize rankings through recent reviews, updated visuals, and stronger guest engagement

Current State / Baseline

Review growth needed to become visible, measurable, and easy for both guests and the operations team to act on.

THREE-PHASE REVIEW SYSTEM

Strategy

The campaign translated reputation goals into operational targets, visible guest touchpoints, and a simple engagement prompt guests could act on quickly.

01 / Set Targets

Created and communicated review goals with the operations team to increase participation and accountability.

02 / Optimize Touchpoints

Added QR code collateral to recreation areas, guest rooms, key inserts, pool tables, IPTV, and digital signage to make review access easier.

These are areas where guests would have leisurely time and increase chances of participation.

03 / Increase Engagement

Added a seasonal guest activity incentive to encourage participation and create a more memorable review prompt.

Campaign Execution

The visual system stayed practical: clear QR access, visible lobby prompts, staff-facing targets, and activity-led reasons for guests to participate.

Evidence was selected to show the system, not every slide: review access, visibility, staff alignment, guest participation, and target tracking.

Operations Alignment

The campaign worked because review generation became a shared operational rhythm, not just a marketing request. Staff had clear targets, visible prompts, and a reason to encourage guest participation.

Shared Review Targets

Review targets were shared with operations so progress became visible and accountable.

Staff Engagement

Staff encouraged guest participation at key moments in the stay experience.

Internal Incentives

Team incentives helped motivate review mentions without making the experience feel forced.

Reduced Friction

Guest-facing QR collateral made the review process easy to access from high-traffic areas.

framework later implemented at another property

By combining QR collateral, operational communication, and seasonal activity incentives, the property created more opportunities for guests to leave timely reviews. This increase in review activity became part of the broader momentum that contributed to award recognition, while the framework proved repeatable across properties.

Key Takeaways

Make Review Access Frictionless

QR codes and visible collateral helped guests move from awareness to action quickly.

Connect Marketing With Operations

The campaign worked because the operations team understood the goal and had clear ways to support it.

Build Repeatable Reputation Systems

The strategy contributed to award recognition and was strong enough to be implemented at another property.

Closing Reflection

This project shows how a hospitality marketing campaign can connect guest experience, OTA visibility, collateral design, reporting, and team participation into one measurable reputation-building system.
